Position: Web 2.0 Ruby on Rails Developer

ThisWorldNow.com

The Tools to Create and the Desire to Distribute
The Need to Connect
ART NEWS IDEAS
All About the Issues Changing
THIS WORLD, NOW!

Project: ThisWorldNow.com is a new web-portal that allows users to connect, share ideas and build the Progressive Movement around key social and political issues using blogs, video, news, photography and art. Moving forward from what the web and social networking sites could do before, ThisWorldNow.com offers the newest in innovation, the strongest in security, and the ingenuity for building political and advocacy-based networking and organizing.

Position Details: The brainchild of a new media designer and filmmaker, ThisWorldNow.com (TWN) is in its final stages of development and is set to launch publicly in the early fall of 2008—before the November elections. The TWN Rails Developer will assist in final production, during public launch, and as the site grows. As TWN is run by a collective of like-minded individuals who devote their time to both day jobs and TWN, the hours are flexible.

Salary, Location and Logistics: TWN was created using small grants from progressive issue advocacy-based organizations. Until public launch creates advertising revenue and other grant funding, the collective working on TWN does so in a volunteer capacity or for limited stipends. The Creator and Director for TWN is open to discussions surrounding deferred payment and/or share opportunities.

The TWN collective is comprised of highly trained individuals with expertise in various facets of development. The collective thrives on sharing such expertise, building new experience and enriching skills and talents for resumes.

The TWN collective is comprised primarily of Atlanta based web designers, coders, graphic designers and public relations specialists. At times, the collective works with others from New York City to Silicon Valley. Ideally, the TWN Systems Administrator would be in the Atlanta area, or must be available for e-conferencing and have comfort in communication by email.

Contact: For more information concerning the TWN Rails Developmer position, please contact Creator and Director Garrett DeHart at (404) 219-4905 or at garrett@garrettdehart.com.
